CCL Workshop 2013October 10-11th, 2013 at the University of Notre Dame
The 2013 CCL Workshop will be held October 10-11th on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. This workshop is an opportunity to learn more about scalable software from the CCL and other related projects, see how others are applying it to advance their research, and to provide some input into the direction of our research and software development. The workshop will be of interest to researchers, faculty, and students involved in either the scientific objectives or the software tools of scalable science. The workshop will include an introduction to and tutorial on the CCL software, talks from multiple experts in scalable scientific computing, breakout sessions on technical topics, and updates from the CCL team on new capabilities and future plans.
RegistrationRegistration is now closed. See you on campus!Thursday, October 10thRoom 112 Notre Dame Conference Center (McKenna Hall)This tutorial will provide an introduction to writing scalable scientific applications that are robust, elastic, and portable across different distributed systems. We will use Makeflow and Work Queue, which are used at Notre Dame and around the world to attack large problems in fields such as chemistry, data mining, economics, biology, physics, and more. This tutorial is accessible to students, staff, and faculty who are familiar with the Unix programming environment and have basic knowledge of programming in either Python, Perl, or C. The tutorial will consist of two 90-minute sessions, each consisting of a lecture and hands-on instruction. Please bring a laptop computer in order to participate.
