The course will cover field theory, Galois theory and, time permitting, representations of finite groups. This material can be found in Part IV and Part VI of Dummit and Foote. In the field theory and Galois theory portion we study field extensions, algebraic elements, Galois groups, and the connection between subgroups of the Galois group and subfields.
