Senior Military Instructor

Master Sergeant Marshall J. Yuen was born and raised in Homestead, Florida. He attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and graduated as a 19K Armor Crewman.


MSG Yuen served in all tank crewman positions and has served as a Tank Commander with D Company (tank) 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, Hohenfels, Germany. MSG Yuen was a Drill Sergeant training Armor Crewmen for combat at Fort Knox, Kentucky.  He served as a Platoon Sergeant, with 1st Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, where he led a platoon during Operation Iraqi Freedom. First Sergeant for Headquarters and Headquarters Company 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment, where he trained Military Transition Teams for deployment.  First Sergeant for C Company 2nd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, where he led C Company throughout Operation Enduring Freedom. His current assignment is Senior Military Science Instructor and Commandant of Cadets at the University of Notre Dame Army ROTC program.


MSG Yuen’s military education includes Warrior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, the First Sergeant Course, and Drill Sergeant Course.

MSG Yuen's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (3th OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (6th OLC), the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal (2 BS), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 BS) , Iraq Campaign Medal (2 BS), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 3), the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Medal (Number 3), the Nato Medal, and the Combat Action Badge. MSG Yuen also holds the Order of Saint George (Bronze Medallion).
