Commissioning
Commissioning is the pinacle event of the Army ROTC year, as senior (MSIV) cadets take their oath and become Officers in the rank of Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. Cadets are individually commissioned on Friday and Saturday of Notre Dame's Commencement Weekend (see http://commencement.nd.edu/ for detailed schedules and dates), and a joint commissioning recognition ceremony for all Army, Air Force, Naval, and Marine officers is held on Saturday morning.
The oath of commissioning and first salutes are administered by a Notre Dame cadre member or a qualified family or friend of the newly commissioned lieutenant.
