At the Infant Studies Lab, we are interested in how infants and children discover meaningful patterns in their environments. We are particularly interested in language development, as it is an extremely complex pattern that they begin to learn about as early as they can hear.

Our current research addresses questions such as “What role does statistical learning play in language development?”, “What are the underpinnings of infants’ statistical learning ability?”, and “How does language input affect the mechanisms that support language learning?”. This research is supported by a NSF CAREER grant.
