Why Participate??? (from a student's perspective)

....Doing exciting research & getting to know your fellow fellows :)

The Notre Dame Biology REU program is an AWESOME experience for anyone who is interested in not only learning about research in general but also to attain numerous techniques as well as a different way of thinking. You work closely with an immediate mentor who is normally either a post doctoral student or a graduate student as well as being advised by the principal investigator. The fellows often become good friends with each other and even plan weekend trips together (i.e. Cedar point, Great America, Chicago, Canada, etc.). Some people have previously mentioned that they were a little apprehensive about what the program would be like before it started but afterwards they wished the summer would not end. Dr. Whaley, the program director, is one of the kindest women in the world who would do anything to help out the students if she can and she is definitely an added bonus to the program. I would recommend for anyone and everyone interested in research to APPLY!!!!
