September 16, 2011. The ReckeTeam of Sean, Adam, and the senior Mr. Recke (Adam's grandfather) were hosted by Greg Crawford, Dean of COS for a game weekend with the Fighting Irish vs Michigan State. Adam (jersey 5) chatted with members of CRND's course in Developing Health Networks in Rare and Neglected Diseases and brought great luck with him for the home team. Sean Recke, a teacher in Pennsylvania and Adam's dad, delivered a passionate public lecture on NP-C, his family's journey and lessons learned. Mr. Recke described the tremendous support of their friends and coworkers who have enabled the family to raise funds for Adam's medication and treatment. Sean Recke shared their early trials with the process of diagnosis and finding physicians knowledgeable regarding NP-C. The Recke family is part of the NNPDF community and other Niemann Pick groups who are working to build the networks of family, medical professionals, researchers and financial sponsors needed to cope with this rare disease. Father, son and granddad are three vibrant spirits who embody the message, "I Believe..." (see Sean's shirt above and link to The Race for Adam Foundation page).
