Laboratory
The Soft Tissue Research Laboratory is housed in the Multidisciplinary Research Building, which opened in 2006. Equipment found in the laboratory includes:
- Cell culture facility (biosafety cabinets, incubators, inverted microscope with digital camera, centrifuge, waterbath)
- Perkin Elmer Victor3 fluorescent plate reader
- Spectrophotometer, thermal cycler
- Sorvall RC-6 Plus Superspeed Centrifuge
- Flexcell Tension System
- Hydrostatic pressure chambers for cell culture
- Custom TestResources planar biaxial material test device
- Video Extensometer (Correlated Solutions VicGage DIC software and a Point Grey Research 2 Megapixal digital video camera)
Shared equipment in the Multidisciplinary Research Building includes:
- Instron 8821 servo-hydraulic biaxial load frame with Instron model 8800 controller
- Nikon ME1600 optical microscope connected to an Optronics digital camera
- Leica cryostat
- Autoclave
- Nanopure water filtration system
- Ice machine
- -80 freezer
