Printing from Windows
  • By default, Windows PCs send print jobs to the printers. There is one color printer and one black and white printer in between rooms 177 and 170. There is one black and white printer in 303 Cushing.
  • There will be a new quota system this year in the Engineering Cluster separate from the Pharos Quota elsewhere on campus. You will be allowed to print 1000 black and white pages or 100 color pages (color pages using up 10 black and white pages). More information on quota system to come.
  • If you encounter a printer jam, please notify a cluster consultant.
  • The printer COLOR_ONLY is available for color printing only and is also located in the central hallway. Please use Fitzpatrick or Cushing if your document does not require color.
  • To print double-sided, when you go to file print click on Properties in the right hand corner of the window that opens. From there select the layout tab. Then under Print on Both Sides select Flip on Long-Edge.

    Printing from Linux
  • To print double-sided, print your document with the command "lpr -P[printer] [filename]" (without quotes). [printer] designates the printer, which can be either FITZPATRICK_DUPLEX or COLOR_ONLY_DUPLEX (for single sided, drop the "_DUPLEX"). Be sure to include the capital P before the printer name. [filename] designates the the file to print. Note that if the file is not in your home folder, you will have to provide a path as well, such as ~/Desktop/[filename].
