Kogge Named Chair of Army Research Lab Review Panel

The National Research Council has named Peter M. Kogge, the Ted H. McCourtney Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and associate dean of research in the College of Engineering, chair of the Panel on Digitization and Communications Science for the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) Technical Assessment Board. The mission of the panel is to assess the scientific and technical quality of the ARL’s research and development in this area.

A fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and an IBM fellow, Kogge has written two books on computer architectures and holds 20 patents. His research interests include massively parallel processing architectures and advanced very large scale integration (VLSI) computer chip technology and architectures. He is a member of the IEEE, the American Association of Artificial Intelligence, the Association of Computing Machinery, and the American Society for Engineering Education.

Kogge joined the University in 1994 from the Federal Systems Division of IBM. However, his association with the University began as an undergraduate; he graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering in 1968.
