The Women's Engineering Program provides you, a current undergraduate, with the opportunity to develop a relationship with women who have more experience in engineering than you do, whether that person is a fellow undergraduate, a graduate student, or an alumna. Through these relationships you can learn more about your chosen field of study while receiving helpful advice on developing a fulfilling educational program and career path.

You may participate in three ways:

Through the dorm-based mentor community.
Upperclass students in each dorm are developing a variety of educational and social activities to build a community of engineers in each dorm. Seniors and juniors who have volunteered as mentors in each of the 13 undergraduate residence halls for 2002-03 include:

Develop a mentor relationship with an alumna. The Women's Engineering Program has a list of nearly 200 alumnae who have volunteered to be mentors to current students. We will do our best to match you with a mentor who shares your interests, whether that involves a particular engineering discipline , a particular employer, or a particular locale. Please be sure to tell us everything that is important to you in a mentor, so that we can select from volunteers appropriately.

Most of these alumnae relationships will take place via e-mail. However, if you live close to your mentor, it may be possible to make more personal contact with her over one of your breaks -- having lunch or touring her place of employment, etc.

If you would like to contact an alumnae mentor, please complete this form. <click here for form>

Participate in the "Irish Online" alumni mentor program. Using the Notre Dame Alumni Association's "Irish Online" alumni database, the Career Center has established a mentor/networking program with alumni volunteers. To register for the program, you must receive an access code from the Career Center. For more information, visit the Career Center in Flanner Hall, or check out the Career Center's undergraduate services web site at http://careercenter.nd.edu/undergrad.php
