About Us

The University of Notre Dame is committed to the principles of fair treatment and equal opportunity for all students, faculty, job applicants, and staff. The mission of the Office of Institutional Equity is to provide leadership and support to the Notre Dame community regarding these principles.  To fulfill our mission, the Office of Institutional Equity provides:

  • Consultation, training, and resources to the University community regarding equal opportunity, affirmative action, diversity, and preventing discrimination, harassment, and retaliation;
  • Resources for faculty, staff, and students with disabilities;
  • Oversight of and support for the University’s efforts to comply with all applicable State and Federal civil rights laws – including, but not limited to, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and the Americans With Disabilities Act; and
  • A mechanism for responding to complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
