W. Douglas Ford

W. Douglas Ford is the retired
Chief Executive, Refining and Marketing, for BP p.l.c. Based
in London from 1998-2002, he was responsible for the refining,
marketing and transportation network of the company as well
as the aviation fuels business, the marine business and BP
Shipping. He was appointed to the Board of BP Amoco in January,
2000.
Prior to the merger of BP and Amoco, Ford
was an Executive Vice President of Amoco Corporation with
responsibility for Amoco's Petroleum Products Sector and Worldwide
Engineering and Construction Operations. Ford was elected
an Executive Vice President of Amoco Corporation in July,
1993, and President of Amoco Oil Company in July, 1992.
Ford joined Amoco in 1970 as a Process Development
Research Engineer at the company's Research and Development
Center in Naperville, IL. After a series of promotions, he
became Engineering and Technical Manager at Amoco's Texas
City, Texas, Refinery in 1980.
In 1982, Ford moved to the company's Whiting,
Indiana, Refinery as Manager of the Catalytic Division. In
1985, he became Amoco Oil's Manager of Supply Operations coordinating
light oils in Chicago, and Manager of Operations Planning
for light oils in 1986. He was named St. Louis Marketing District
Manager in 1987, and later named Regional Production Manager
for the Amoco Production Company in Denver in 1989.
Ford currently serves on the Board of Directors
for both USG Corporation and UAL Corporation. He is also a
member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Notre
Dame.
A native of Danvers, MA, Ford holds a Bachelors
Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre
Dame, and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern
University.
Ford and his wife, Kathleen, reside
in Downers Grove, IL.
