Practices

The team practices Monday through Thursday from 5-6:30pm in the Fall and Spring on the Stepan Fields. Indoor practices take place Sunday nights from 8-9pm in the Loftus Athletic Facilities.

September 20th 2009 vs. Miamo of Ohio
Notre Dame 1 Miami 0

The Notre Dame Club Field Hockey team played an exciting match against Miami of Ohio Sunday afternoon on the LaBar Turf Fields. The final score was Notre Dame 1 Miami 0. Both teams were stacked with talent with the only goal coming at the beginning of the second half. The goal was assisted by Danielle Straccia and scored by Jay Williams. The Irish will next face off against Xavier and Ohio University, September 27th, in Cincinnati.


September 26th 2009 @ Xavier University
Notre Dame 6 Xavier 1

The Notre Dame Club field hockey team traveled to Cincinnati this Sunday to play Xavier University and the Centurions, a local club team. Notre Dame won the first game 6 to 1. The Irish scored five times in the first half. Danielle Straccia scored twice, both assisted by Mary Ulliman. Nellie Gotebeski also scored a pair of goals in the first half, assisted by Jen O’Neil and Mary Ulliman. Finally, Jen O’Neil put one in the back of the net to end the half. Xavier came back strong in the second half, allowing only a goal by Ellen Blatt.

Notre Dame 1 Centurians 1

After playing Xavier, Notre Dame had a tough match against the Centurians, a local club team composed of mostly international players. In the first half, Danielle Straccia rifled home a shot, making it 1-0 at half. The Irish defense was very solid in holding the fresh Centurions to a single goal. The match ended in a 1-1 tie. The Irish will next face off this Sunday against both Xavier and St. Louis University at the LaBar Field.


October 4th 2009 vs. Xavier University
Notre Dame 15 Xavier 0

Notre Dame Field Hockey played in a home tournament this weekend against Xavier University and St. Louis University. The first match was against Xavier, and the Irish came out on fire, scoring 8 goals in the first half. The first two goals of the game came from Will Thwaites, assisted by Mary Ulliman; and Nellie Gotebeski assisted by Will. Danielle Straccia hit one in the back of the goal shortly after, assisted by Chrissy Affleck. Jay Williams scored the next two goals unassisted and Susie Carlsen also hit one in off the inside. Then, to end the first half Gotebeski scored again, assisted from Will.

In the second half, Kelsey Goslee scored a goal followed by an unassisted goal from Will. Danielle Straccia scored three more goals in the second half. Kate Sheedy and Susie Carlsen scored 2 more goals, making the finals Notre Dame 15, Xavier 0.

October 4th 2009 vs. SLU
Notre Dame 5 St. Louis 0

Notre Dame also went on to defeat St. Louis University 5-0, with various team members contributing. Next Sunday, the Irish will take on Missouri and Ohio University at La Bar Fields.


October 11th 2009 vs. Mizzou-Gold Team
Notre Dame 2 Mizzou 0

On Sunday afternoon the Notre Dame field hockey club hosted the University of Missouri at LaBar field. The Irish split their squad into two teams and played a pair of games with Mizzou. In the first game, the ND Gold Team, posted a 2-0 victory for the Irish. Jay Williams scored first for the Irish, assisted by Danielle Stracccia, in the first half. The second goal came in midway through the second half on a cross from Will Thwaites to Jenn O’Neill.

October 11th 2009 vs. Mizzou-Blue Team
Notre Dame 3 Mizzou 5

In the second game, played by ND Blue, with the Tigers coming out on top, 5-3. The first Irish goal was scored in the first half, from Kate Sheedy to Susie Carlsen. The other two goals came in the second half, one by Claire Kenney and the other by Kate Sheedy. The Irish will net travel to a tournament in early November.
