Description of Position

: The McLachlan Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences is looking for a  responsible and detail-oriented undergraduate assistant to work on a project addressing historical forest ecology.  The student will help reconstruct 18th century forests in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio to understand forest conditions prior to widespread land clearing following European settlement. This involves extracting ecological information from historical surveys conducted by the US General Land Office.  Work can start immediately or in the Spring 2013 semester, and there is the possibility for work to continue in summer 2013 and subsequent semesters.
This is a diverse lab with PhD students and other undergraduate researchers working on a range of different projects. It will be a great learning environment for any student interested in gaining research experience.

Please send a cover letter explaining your interests in the lab and resume with a list of 2-3 work or school-related references to Jill Deines at the email address below.
