Description of Position |
: The McLachlan Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences is looking for a responsible and detail-oriented undergraduate assistant to work on a project addressing historical forest ecology. The student will help reconstruct 18th century forests in Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio to understand forest conditions prior to widespread land clearing following European settlement. This involves extracting ecological information from historical surveys conducted by the US General Land Office. Work can start immediately or in the Spring 2013 semester, and there is the possibility for work to continue in summer 2013 and subsequent semesters. |

Freshman, sophomores, and juniors majoring in Biology, Environmental Science, Geosciences, History, American Studies, or related majors are encouraged to apply. |
