4 RESEARCH INTERESTS

  • My research interests center around the structure and electronic properties of complex materials including solids, liquids, surfaces and interfaces by the use of x-rays and electrons. Specifically, I am interested in using x-ray absorption spectroscopy and x-ray scattering to characterize the structure of heavy metal adsorption on biomass(specially biofilm), clay, oxides, nanoparticles, etc. Via the high intense x-rays at the Materials Research Collaborative Access Team (MRCAT) at APS Argonne National Laboratory, my research interests also involve in interdisciplinary areas of environmental geochemistry, catalysis, biological problems, etc.

I also maintain a portable version of XAFS data analysis package.

6 PORTABLE APPS FOR WINDOWS

Your USB drive, smartphone, IPod or Galaxy Tab is your portable office.
Solution: portable apps + portable Dropbox (A Dropbox account required)

7 PERSONAL INTERESTS

  • Particle Physics
  • Python, Mathematica, etc.
  • Emacs, LaTeX ("Lah-tech" or "Lay-tech")
  • Soccer
  • ……

8 GREAT WEBSITES AND TOOLS

  • e-prints: A much better way to share and update your papers (yes, it has existed for a long time.)
arXiv.org (more than 20 years old!)
    inSPIRE
  • MiniManuscript: A openly editable online database of article summaries
  • Academia: A place to share and follow research
  • TED: Ideas Worth Spreading
  • Wolfram|Alpha introduces a fundamentally new way to get knowledge and answers not by searching the web, but by doing dynamic computations based on a vast collection of built-in data, algorithms, and methods.
  • Dropbox: Dropbox is a cloud storage that lets you access your files anywhere and share them easily (Alternative: Google drive and skydrive)

9 GREAT ANDROID APPS

My favorite Android apps. I will keep it updated.
