Karen Schneider Kirner is an Assistant Organist/Choir Director for the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame. At Notre Dame, she directs the Handbell Choir and Celebration Choir and serves on the Alliance for Catholic Education faculty. She is also the Associate Director of the Notre Dame Folk Choir and has collaborated with Steve Warner in both composing and arranging several octavos for that ensemble, published through World Library Publications. She has also published works for handbells.
An Indiana native, Ms. Schneider Kirner is also a concert organist and has played solo recitals in cathedrals across the U.S. and in Europe. From Yale University she holds a Masters of Music degree and a Masters in Art and Religion, through the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. Her Bachelor of Music degree is from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She has pursued further studies at the Hochschule fur Musik in Vienna, Austria.
Karen and her husband Scott have three children—eleven year old twin daughters Claire Marie and Emma Rose along with their seven year old son Joseph.
