Residence Hall Preferences:

I wish to be considered for an RA where I presently reside.

I wish to be considered for an RA for any hall where an opening is available.

Other Comments:

NOTE: Notre Dame students who presently reside in a residence hall are requested to discuss this application with their Rector prior to submitting it for consideration. Candidates understand that if appointed as Resident Assistants, they may not be employed in outside work or involved in activities which would interfere with their responsibilities as RA’s, including participating in varsity athletics or holding offices in Student Government or other campus organizations and activities (unless they have received prior permission from Residential Life).

Every Resident Assistant must participate in hall staff orientation, training, and related activities. Training and orientation programs begin in late Spring of the academic year preceding the appointment to Resident Assistant status. A more extensive training program is conducted approximately two weeks prior to the start of the Fall semester. In-service training sessions are held throughout the year. Attendance at all training, orientation, and in-service training sessions, as well as regular meetings with the hall staff, is mandatory. Students participating in study abroad programs during the preceding Spring semester are excused from that semester's orientation activities.

Because Resident Assistants may serve as first responders in many medical emergencies, it is important that they possess basic first aid skills. All RAs must complete the American Red Cross or American Heart Association Standard First Aid and the American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR classes by August 31.

I understand that if offered a Resident Assistant position, that offer will be contingent upon the successful completion of a personal background check, which may include a criminal background check with a sex offender registry check.

I understand that the University, my residence hall, the Office of Housing and Residential Life (collectively, the “University”) may publish certain personal information concerning its Resident Assistants for the purpose of publicizing relevant hall information, such as a hall directory.  Accordingly, in the event that I am offered and ultimately accept a position as a Resident Assistant, I give the University permission to publish certain personal information about me as it relates to my role as a Resident Assistant.  This information includes, but is not limited to, my name, photograph, University issued Email address, residence hall, major and/or area of study, hometown, and classification (for example, senior).  This grant of permission shall be valid for so long as I serve as a Resident Assistant, and it shall not be limited by, affected by, or otherwise subject to any direction or notice I have given or will give in the future to the University pursuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”) restricting its ability under FERPA to disclose directory information about me or designate information about me as directory information.

I acknowledge and agree that I have read and understand all materials enclosed with this application.  If selected, I understand and agree to abide by and be subject to the terms, conditions and consent included above.  I certify that the information I have provided is true to the best of my knowledge.  I authorize Residential Life to solicit and/or verify any information pertinent to my candidacy. I understand that this application will not be complete until three (3) recommendations are returned to Residential Life.

I agree with the above conditions.
