Research Interests

My research focuses on the regeneration of retinal neurons in zebrafish.  I am specifically interested in identifying the signal transduction pathway that elicits this response and revealing which retinal cell types this signal comes from.  I would like to know which types of cells are necessary or sufficient to induce the regeneration response.  To do this it is useful to observe changes in the regeneration response in the absence of specific cell types or to induce cell-type specific apoptosis.  Doing so will provide answers relating to the origin and nature of the retinal regeneration response signal.
