Faculty Directory--Bill Kissane
Bill Kissane has been a lecturer in Political Science in the Government Department at the London School of Economics since 1999. He has also taught at the University of Grenwich and Helsinki University. After completing a BA in Modern English and Sociology from Trinity College Dublin (1984-88), he completed an MSc in Sociology (1922) and a PhD in Political Science from the London School of Economics (1998). Bill has published two books, Explaining Irish Democracy (UCD Press, 2002), and The Politics of the Irish Civil War (Oxford University Press, 2005), as well as articles on Church-State relations in Ireland, comparative Finnish-Irish history, and the regime outcomes of civil wars. While visiting the Keough Institute of Irish Studies, he will be working on an analytical history of Irish democracy since 1918.
