Faculty Directory--Diarmaid Ó Doibhlin
Diarmaid Ó Doibhlin is a graduate of the National University of Ireland , and has lectured at St. Mary’s College , Belfast and at Queens University, Belfast, and has been responsible for the design and delivery of the literature modules at the University of Ulster where Irish Studies achieved the highest research award and the highest teaching award in the most recent external assessments.
He has a national profile as a gifted lecturer on Irish language/literature topics and has lectured at the Institute of Advanced Studies colloquia, at the Oireachtas and at the Merriman School. He is a frequent contributor to B.B.C and Radio na Gaeltachta programmes.
He has published articles on aspects of literary and local history in Irisleabhar Muighe Nuadhat , Seanchas Ardmhacha , Derriana,and the Journal of Ulster Local Studies. He has edited Róis Ní Ógáin’s famous Duanaire Gaedhilge and has published two well received volumes of original poems Briseadh na Cora (1981)and Dumaí Móra(1997).At present he is engaged in a major research project on post-Tridentine devotional literature in the Irish language, with special emphasis on the sermon.
