RTA, HTA, and ITA
Gas solubilities, specifically CO2, in ionic liquids is measured with these apparatuses. RTA schematics are shown in above Figure. The ITA and HTA systems are very similar in their setup. The HTA system, with more modification, is placed in an oven to perform experiments at higher temperatures up to 120 ⁰C. Whereas in the ITA system, liquid container is immersed in a water bath for lower temperature experiments. All systems serve the same purpose and same method for calculations of the uptake capacity. The glass vessel for each of these systems are calibrated for their volume. Recorded pressure enables the calculations on dissolved or reacted gas.
