Regional Program Coordinator

Job Description

The Regional Program Coordinator provides leadership and guidance to staff in the region and directly oversees the respective Program Directors in Kenya and Uganda to ensure adherence to the Ford Program mission and vision. This position is based in East Africa and requires significant travel to maintain a secondary presence here at the University. The Regional Program Coordinator will maintain consistent and effective communication, informing and consulting with the Kellogg Institute/Ford Program leadership while ensuring timely monitoring and reporting of community engagement, research, and student activities. This position may occasionally fulfill a representational role and/or support activities in the region related to the broader University of Notre Dame, outside of programming of the Kellogg Institute/Ford Program. As needed, the Regional Program Coordinator will highlight appropriate program activities for wider public distribution. The Regional Program Coordinator will consolidate local program financial reports, reports for donors on project activities, and provide final approval for all hires in the region, including technical specialist consultants. The Regional Program Coordinator will collaborate to identify the strategic, technical and operational support required to ensure that community engagement, student learning, and research activities are pursued in a timely and effective manner. The Regional Program Coordinator will be responsible for identifying opportunities for cross program learning and highlighting these opportunities to ND-based staff. The Regional Program Coordinator will also play an important role in strengthening partnerships at the regional and national levels to support program implementation and research at the community, national and regional levels, providing special attention to Catholic Relief Services and the Catholic Church.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's in Public Policy, Public Administration, International Affairs, Economics, Public Health or Business Administration preferred. Bachelors or other degrees considered with relevant experience.

Minimum 3 years experience managing multi-sector integrated projects and teams within a cross-cultural context in the developing world required. Experience working within a University and experience supporting the implementation of field-based inter-disciplinary research preferred.

This position will require residence in East Africa with regular travel within the region and significant time in South Bend, IN.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in building institutional partnerships and securing funding or support in-kind to achieve program objectives.
