Streaming media

This refers to a delivery method where video and audio can be presented to a user before the entire file has been received. Without streaming, you would have to wait a long time until you could view a a two-hour movie online. The technology used to play streaming media also reduces the likelihood that people will illegally download and keep the video.

Use in teaching & learning

Using a restricted website or Sakai, streaming video can be provided to only the students in your class. This can be a great convenience.
