A lunar eclipse occurs when the earth blocks the sun’s light from reaching the moon. This photograph shows the moon at 4-minute intervals as it passed first behind Notre Dame’s Golden Dome, then into the earth’s shadow. This August 2007 eclipse was in process as the moon set.
