By: Susan Guibert

“Everything in its Place: The Life and Works of Virgilio Piñera” is the title of a new book by Thomas F. Anderson, associate professor of Romance languages and literatures at the University of Notre Dame.

“Everything in its Place: The Life and Works of Virgilio Piñera”

The most comprehensive study to date of Piñera, “Everything in its Place” is the first book to be written in English on this major 20th-century Cuban novelist, poet and dramatist. Drawing extensively on unpublished manuscripts, Anderson offers nuanced interpretations of Piñera’s life in Cuba, bringing new insights into the literary, political and cultural influences of Piñera’s works. It was published by Bucknell University Press.

Anderson specializes in 20th-century Latin American fiction and in the literature of the Hispanic Caribbean.  He is a faculty fellow in Notre Dame’s Kellogg Institute for International Studies and is coordinator of the University’s Program in Iberian and Latin American Studies.
