Club History
Founded in the early 90's, the Notre Dame MBA Entrepreneurship Club is rooted in three specific philosophies. First, we are committed to exposing our members each academic year to prominent guest speakers with a proven business track record. Most recently, Tom Mendoza, President of Network Appliance, Inc, a database storage company with annual revenues of $1.6 billion, spoke to the Notre Dame Business School 's Entrepreneurship Club about such issues as managing a start-up and avoiding potential pitfalls for new business ventures.
Secondly, club members have traditionally been active in trying to enhance student's MBA education. For example, members are responsible for setting up Student and Alumni panels that discuss topics, such as finding internships/jobs with start ups and how to go about starting a new business.
Thirdly, in conjunction with the Gigot Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, the Entrepreneurship Club helps promote and operate the McCloskey Business Plan competition, which is held during the fall of each academic year. Last year 71 teams entered the competition to compete for the $15,000 grand prize. Each entry is judged by a panel comprised of successful businessmen and women with experience in either the startup or venture capital businesses.
Many successful businesses have been started by MBA entrepreneurship club members and McCloskey competition entrants in the past. A few of the most notable success stories are LicketyShip, McNellie's Pub, Nuron, CN Resource, and License Monitor , to name a few.
