Math 70330: Intermediate Geometry/Topology

Math 70330: Intermediate Geometry/Topology (Fall 2016)

Course description: This course will be taught in a variant of the "Kan seminar" style, where many (but not all) of the lectures will be given by students. The first third of the class will consist of lectures on basic notions in geometry/topology which everyone should know (e.g. characteristic classes, cobordism, K-theory). The second two thirds will consist of lectures on topics of interest to the students. Students will read original important papers and present on them. Homework will be periodically assigned so that all participants get practice with new concepts. Contact instructor if interested in attending.
