Research SummaryMy research is focused on the QoS guarantees of wireless sensor networks. Parameters of interest include end-to-end delay, network throughput, and buffer occupancy. Generally, QoS guarantees are implemented across multiple layers. Our major concerns are access control of the MAC layer and transmission scheduling of the network layer. On the other hand, due to the interconnection between layers, my work also involves the rate- and power-control of the physical layer and routing of the network layer. The research is two-fold. First, we combine queueing theory with information theory to analyze the network and find out how the network behaves under different scenarios, which are distinguished with channel characteristics, traffic patterns, and scheduling policies. Then, we aim to design the optimum scheduling and MAC schemes for specific applications. |
