Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Megan graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Science Pre-Professional and Theology degree. During her undergraduate years she spent a semester abroad in London, interned with the Center for the Homeless, and worked in Campus Ministry where she helped develop the Freshman Retreat program. After graduation she spent a year as a full-time volunteer with Capuchin Youth and Family Ministries in Garrison, NY.
Her ministry with youth during that year inspired her to pursue her calling in lay ministry. She returned to Notre Dame for the Master of Divinity Program where she focused on parish models of youth ministry for her Synthesis Seminar. After graduation, she moved to Chicago where she was the Director of Youth Ministry at St. Giles Parish in Oak Park, IL for three years.
For the past six years she has been the Assistant Director of Pastoral Ministry and eventually the Sophomore and Junior Class Chaplain at Saint Ignatius College Prep in Chicago, IL. In facilitating peer ministry, coordinating catechetical formation, guiding theological reflection based on service experiences, and collaborating with teachers, youth ministry leaders, parents, and adult volunteers she strives to help young people find their passion and their voice. In her twelve years of youth ministry experience, she finds that adolescents are hungering for guidance and support as they strive to make a difference in the world.
Megan’s work with Notre Dame Vision begins in March 2010, and she is excited to help share her gifts with the youth, adults and college students who bring life to the programs. She returns to South Bend after nine years in the Lakeview area of Chicago (near Wrigley Field). A devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan, she tries to return home to “the Burgh” whenever possible to visit friends and family.
