A National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates Site

The Summer Fellowship in Biocultural Anthropology(ANTH 45818) will engage students in a dynamic experiential learning environment which immerses them in anthropological method and theory. Participants will conduct original research, share in a field trip program visiting museums and research institutions, and will participate in a lecture program discussing biological anthropology, chemistry, archaeology, and Near Eastern studies.  Students will develop a suite of methodological skills in the natural and social sciences, delve into the pertinent literature using a variety of libraries, develop skills for collaborative research, and discover the importance of a holistic approach to a fuller understanding of life in the past.

Each student will receive $400 per week for 7 weeks, a modest housing stipend ($400/month), transportation costs to/from campus, all materials needed for their research projects, and all expenses associated with the field trip program.

The first stipend will be paid approximately 2 weeks after the start of the program due to University budgeting requirements.
