Welcome

Welcome to the Marital Therapy & Research Clinic. We appreciate the opportunity to work with you and hope the following information will help you make informed decisions about our services. If you have any questions about the Clinic or its services, feel free to contact the Clinic Director, Dr. Smith.

Mission

The purpose of the Clinic is to provide a non-profit center for: a) research, b) training, and c) service. As a potential recipient of services at the Clinic, you should be aware that we seek to provide quality, confidential, research-supported, psychological services in the context of a collaborative and caring relationship with our clients. Therapy couples are not required to participate in any of the Clinic's ongoing research studies. We hope to gain your trust and enthusiasm for therapy as well as motivating your best efforts by clarifying expectations and fully answering all your questions at the beginning of treatment.

Staff

Because this is a training facility, you will most likely be treated by an advanced doctoral student in psychology. All therapists who are not licensed as psychologists are directly supervised, as required by Indiana law, by Dr. David A. Smith, Ph.D., who is also the Director of the Clinic. Dr. Smith is a Licensed Psychologist (# 20041287, IN) and an Indiana State Board of Psychology endorsed Health Services Provider in Psychology. Dr. Smith is also Board Certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP), and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Notre Dame. Because this is a training facility, we give priority to treating cases that do not involve severe psychopathology, addictions, abuse, or legal problems. $10.00 per session

Appointments

Services are by appointment only. Individual and couple therapy sessions are usually scheduled for fifty (50) minutes every week. Initial intake sessions are two hours.
