Although the lists below are by no means exhaustive, I have tried to provide a good beginning for those wishing to study Remedios Varo or, to a lesser extent, women and Surrealism in general. In addition to books written specifically about Varo, I have also include in the first section works which include discussion of her but are not exclusively focused on her. Because of this some books and articles may appear in both lists.

If you are particularly interested in Varo, I especially recommend Janet Kaplan's biography and the catalog raisonné edited by Ricardo Ovalle — both books include extensive bibliographies for further reading.
