of Alcohol Abuse and Alcohol
Dependence
ALCOHOL ABUSE
Involves a pattern
of alcohol use leading to clinically significant impairment
or distress manifested by one (or more) of the following within
a 12 month period:
- Recurrent drinking
resulting in a failure to fulfill major role obligations
at work, school, or home.
- Recurrent drinking
in situations in which it is physically hazardous.
- Recurrent alcohol-related
legal problems. Continued alcohol use despite having
persistent or recurrent social or interpersonal
problems caused or exacerbated by the effects
of alcohol.
- Continued alcohol
use despite having persistent or recurrent social or interpersonal
problems caused or exacerbated by the effects of alcohol.

and Drug Education for an assessment.
ALCOHOL
DEPENDENCE
A maladaptive pattern
of alcohol use, leading to clinically significant impairment
or distress as manifested by three or more of the following
occurring at any time in the same 12 month period:
- Markedly Increased
Tolerance
- Withdrawal
- Neglecting
Activities
- Impaired Control
- Continued Drinking
Despite Problems Related To Drinking
- Great Deal Of
Time Spent On Alcohol Related Activities
