Counseling
Treatment for alcohol and drug concerns at the UCC takes a brief motivational approach designed to increase a students desire to make positive changes regarding his or her alcohol and drug use. This approach emphasizes students' personal responsibility and choices during the treatment process. Treatment often involves once-a-week meetings, which are supplemented by weekly on and off campus groups, for a semester or less.

Due to the brief nature of treatment, students who require more extensive treatment than what is offered at the UCC will be provided with referrals in the community or in their hometown. The UCC will assist with these referrals.

Assessment
The UCC offers a free assessment, to Notre Dame students, which includes detailed feedback about one's alcohol use. This assessment typically involve a 1-3 sessions with a therapist.
