Welcome
to the University Counseling Center
University of Notre Dame
A Message from the Director:
Welcome to the home page
of the University Counseling Center of the University of Notre Dame. You can read our mission statement here.
The Center's staff
includes clinical and counseling psychologists, counselors, a social
worker, a dietitian, and a consulting psychiatrist.
We provide individual
and group counseling to all Notre Dame students - both undergraduate
and graduate. We also are involved in the residence halls of the
University both to assist in the training of hall staff and to provide
psychoeducational programs for residents. Emergency services are
available on a 24 hour basis.
In the past about 8%
of the students (over 800) use our individual and group services
during a typical year. Many more attend workshops
or other campus programs sponsored by the Counseling Center.
Typical reasons for using the Center include feeling anxious or
stressed out, being depressed, having problems with family, friends,
roommates or significant others, having trouble with alcohol or
other substances or having an eating problem. You can learn more
about these and other issues by spending some time looking at the
self help materials contained in our web page.
If you feel that you
or someone you know could profit from our services, please go through
our web pages. If you still are not certain, then call our office
to discuss the situation with one of our staff. We will either attempt
to provide the help that you need or refer you to appropriate services.
