Great Lakes Division Second Place
Ohio St hosted the 2018 Great Lakes Division Championship, seeded 2nd in a tight race between Ohio St (1st) and Grand Valley St (3rd). The Irish came off hot, pummeling the University of Dayton in their first game on Saturday. The Irish unexpectedly met Miami (OH) in the semifinal, as the Redhawks had upset Grand Valley. Once again, the Irish handled Miami (OH) with ease, able to play the entire team to finish out the games on Saturday. After a big dinner and football watch, the team settled down at the hotel, excited for the championship on Sunday.

Unfortunately Sunday did not go as well as Saturday. The Irish fell short 9-4 to a hungry Ohio St team to place second in the Great Lakes Division. After one, the Irish were down 3-1, but had pulled within one by halftime, down 5-4. Unfortunately the team could not produce more offense in the second half as Ohio St took the championship for the second consecutive year. The Irish earned second place honors, the best finish for the team since 2013. With the end of the regular season, the Irish wish the best to all conference champions participating in the National Championship at the University of Arizona during the weekend of November 9-11.

Though the season is officially over, the Irish look forward to more practices and comraderie for the semester. It should offer beneficial experience for the brave freshmen who have never played before this season, and the Irish are excited to plan out the spring tournaments.

2nd Conference Qualifier
The Irish hosted the second Great Lakes conference qualifier, this time playing against University of Cincinnati, Miami (OH), Ohio St A, and Ohio St B. The Irish were ready to play, and easily defeated The Bearcats, Redhawks, and Ohio St B. Ohio St A was a different beast, which was expected from their performance last year. The Irish battled to a final score of 9-5, falling to the Bukeye team of mostly returning players from their conference championship team last year. There is work to be done, but the team is happy to see that the game was competitive and much more in reach than last year. The conference championships at Ohio St in three weeks will determine which powerhouse will win the conference and extend their season into the playoffs.

1st Conference Qualifier
This past weekend the Irish hosted the first of two conference qualifiers at Rolf's Aquatic Center at Notre Dame. The team played illinois State and Grand Valley on Saturday, and then played Xavier and Dayton on Sunday. The game to watch was the Grand Valley game, which the Irish won by a slight margin. No current member of the team had ever experienced a win against the Grand Valley Lakers, adding significant satisfaction to the 4-0 weekend. The team already looks improved upon last years, and we are excited to see where the season will take us. The Lakers were previously the second seed behind Ohio St, but now the Irish will take that position in the conference.
