What's Happening at the WISSH

Come Join us for...
**There will be a meeting Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at Sorin Room in the first floor of Lafortune.
** We will be discussing the Honoring Women of Notre Dame Project and Movie Nights.

2004-2005 Projects:

• Breast Cancer Awareness and Breast Cancer Bracelets Sale. Proceeds will benefit Breast Cancer Research.
• Movie Night and Discussion of Thelma and Louise or the Hours.
• 2nd Semester, we will continue the tradition of Honoring Women at Notre Dame

Past Projects:

• Participated in running the Freshmen Orientation Gender Issues presentation in coordination with Res Life and the University Counseling Center
• Held a well attended Open House
• Sponsored Wen Liao's visit to campus and subsequent presentations.  (Liao is one of the premiere modern artists in China and also an eloquent speaker on the subject of women's rights and feminism.)
• Worked with C.A.R.E. to bring a rape survivor to campus to speak during Sexual Assault Awareness Week
• Sponsored and ran a movie week of films with strong female characters or positive gender roles.  We even brought in 2 former players in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League to introduce A League of Their Own
• Designed and produced rape awareness magnets which were distributed at various events throughout the year
• Organized and ran the Honoring Women of ND project in the Observer highlighting faculty, staff, and students who have had a positive influence on this campus.
