Dr. Sun came to Notre Dame in 2002 after he had worked
for many years at the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National
Laboratory. He teaches introductory physics
classes, develops new teaching technology with physics animations, and conducts research in
nuclear structure and nuclear astrophysics.
He is a scientific participant of the

JINA (Joint Institute for Nuclear Astrophysics), a guest researcher of Institute
of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a long-term
senior visiting scholar of Tsinghua University, China. In the past
two years, he was awarded visiting professorship by Michigan State
University, USA, visiting researcher by University of Surrey, UK,
and guest researcher by RIKEN, Japan. In Fall 2007, he filled a
professor position at
Shanghai Jiao Tong University,
China.
