Dr. Sun came to Notre Dame in 2002 after he had worked for many years at the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He teaches introductory physics classes, develops new teaching technology with physics animations, and conducts research in nuclear structure and nuclear astrophysics. He is a scientific participant of

JINA (Joint Institute for Nuclear Astrophysics), a guest researcher of Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a long-term senior visiting scholar of Tsinghua University, China. In the past two years, he was awarded visiting professorship by Michigan State University, USA, visiting researcher by University of Surrey, UK, and guest researcher by RIKEN, Japan. In Fall 2007, he filled a professor position at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. This links to his website at SJTU.
