References for Grobner bases : The only online source I can recommend (ok for use during the final) is some old lecture notes of Brendan Hassett which are available here. The relevant lectures are as follows : Lecture 2 (starting with section 2.2), Lecture 3, Lectures 5-6, Lecture 9 (starting at 9.12).
