Math 10550 is the first course of a two-semester sequence. In Math 10550, we cover limits, differentiation and the basics of integration. We study the fundamental theorem of calculus showing how differentiation and integration are inverse operations. We consider many applications of these operations.
Students taking this class are expected to have a good grasp of algebra(including inequalities), graphing, and basic trigonometric functions.
Each week, students attend a Tutorial, where students will tackle more complex problems than those given in homework. Quizzes will be administered in tutorials, allowing students to practice for taking exams. Attendance at the tutorial is mandatory and work done in tutorials accounts for a substantial portion of the final grade.
Homework for this course will be assigned and collected electronically. You will need to purchase access to the homework along with your book. For details click on the link Book/Access Code Information in the menu on the left hand side of this page.
