These photos of shanty towns springing up around Lima, Peru try to capture the reality of how more and more Peruvians must live. They are driven from their rural homelands by a search for jobs and "squat" on avaiable land. Some of these towns have grown up almost overnight. Houses are built out of whatever materials are at hand. 1985
