Lab 0: Quota Check

This is a quick exercise that you should do on your on the first week of classes, to make sure that you will be ready for the first lab session.
  • Go to the Engineering Library in Fitzpatrick 149.
  • Log into the machine using your usual netid and password.
  • Open a terminal window and type in the command fs listquota. You should see something like this:
Volume Name Quota Used %Used Partition
    user.somebody 500000 39812 3% 10%

If the number under Quota is less than about 500,000 (500MB), (or you get a "quota exceeded" message at any point) then you don't have a sufficient storage quota for the class. To solve the problem, send an email to oithelp@nd.edu and politely request that your AFS quota be increased to 1GB.

If your quota is sufficient, then you are ready for the first lab next week.

If you have any problems with your login and password, then check with the OIT help desk on the first floor of DeBartolo Hall.
