Project 4
due in class March 24
Do the following:
- Before the tutorial, run through tutorial script 8 which is an illustration of the problems of using Newton's method for finding repeated roots.
- Before the tutorial, look through the problem listed below and sketch out your solution approach. Download the data file, get it into matlab, and get through parts 1 & 2.
- At the tutorial (or before, if you like), get started writing the rest of the code. I'd like you to be pretty far along so that we can discuss techniques such as using Monte Carlo to do error calculations.
- In class next Thursday (3/24) turn in your program(s) and output.
The Problem:
This project deals with calculating thermodynamic properties from numerical simulations of energy states, where the data is largely from a paper by Prateek. The project is detailed here and the data set is given here.
