Do the following:
- Before the tutorial, look through the problem listed below and sketch out your solution approach. Download the weights and nodes for a seven point Gaussian Quadrature rule and write the code for part 1 (the integration function).
- At the tutorial (or before, if you like), get started writing the rest of the code.
- In class next Thursday (4/7) turn in your program(s) and output.
The Problem:
This project deals with the combination of quadrature and optimization as applied to variational methods. Historically, variational methods have played a large role in developing approximate solutions to really nasty problems. The project is detailed here.
