The mid-term exam will be this Thursday! It will be primarily based on algorithms, and will cover all the lectures through last Thursday (e.g., all of statistics). The exam is closed books (and iphones...), but you may bring one 8.5x11 sheet of paper (hand written!) with your favorite notes/formulas/etc. Good Luck!

Today's example deals with three root finding techniques: Bisection, Newton's Method, and the Secant Method. We'll get to the last of these the Tuesday after break, but the example describing these is given here.
