Junior Men's Epee Team Finals

The lineup for the Gold Medal bout in the Junior Men's Epee Team event. Fencing for Poland were Pavel Benisz, Tomasz Motyka, Michal Sobieraj, and Adam Wiercioch. France was represented by Erick Boisse, Grumier, Francois Jan, and Gold Medalist Fabrice Jeannet.

Local epeeist (and a member of the Notre Dame faculty) Josh Kaplan follows the action with wife Jeanne. Rumor has it that Josh was seen buying equipment from the vendors downstairs. Does that mean we will see him back in the fencing salle soon?

Michal Soberiaj of Poland tests weapons with his French opponent to begin the second period. The big Frenchman Jeannet had already given his team a 5-2 lead.

The third period began with only a two touch lead for France.

At the start of the fifth period France still stubbornly clung to a two touch advantage.

Two more periods with Gold Medalist Jeannet led to a four touch advantage for France entering the final period.

A comeback victory for Poland was not in the cards, as France scores a decisive 45-39 win for the Gold Medal.
