Linux TECPLOT Installation Notes
Currently, Tecplot is available from two locations: at CRC (e.g. opteron.crc.nd.edu), and at Hessert on aeroblue.aero.nd.edu and aerogold.aero.nd.edu.
Access to Tecplot at CRC requires that you submit a request to them for an account. Details are here: CRC Account Request.
Users must log in remotely, then execute the command "module load tecplot".
The executable is "tec360".
To access Tecplot on aeroblue or aerogold at Hessert, it is unnecessary to load a module. However, you must first be added to a special "tecplot" group that has been setup on
those machines. Contact Rodney McClain or Eric Matlis for this. Then start Tecplot with the command "tec360".
Please note that the total number of seats available to the Tecplot license is very limited (currently only 10 seats) and is meant mainly for the Hessert community.
For Windows users, there is a tutorial which describes how to configure an xserver client such as xming to allow for the remote display of the Tecplot gui. This describes how to set up X11 tunneling which is required to
allow the remote gui to be processed by the xserver client.
It is recommended that you use this version of xming- xming-mesa.
It has better success rendering OpenGL images than the default version.
If this tutorial is not avialable, see this pdf version: xming_tutorial.pdf
Using these steps, a Windows user should be able to log in remotely to the CRC cluster or the Hessert machines to access Tecplot.
If there are any questions, please email Eric Matlis: ematlis

Thank you.
