About Alcoy
Alcoy is a small town of roughly 80,000 people in the Valencian state of Spain. It is nicely situated in an inland valley roughly 20 km from the Costa Blanca. Alcoy is best known for the annual Festival of Moors and Christians, held in April, where Alcoy celebrates its founding. Alcoy is known as the City of Bridges, because of the multiple bridges that span the local gorges.

The climate in Alcoy is typical of southern Spain: dry, sunny, and hot. During the summer program, students should expect predominantly sunny weather with daily highs in the 80s, although it can be cooler or hotter on occasion. Alcoy is surrounded by national parks with excellent hiking opportunities.

Access to Valencia, the third largest of Spain’s cities, is possible by train; access to Benidorm and Alicante on the Costa del Sol are through an hourly bus service.
